Mexico

I am typing this post from bed, laying down (still) for as long as I can in hopes maddie will sleep in. She's been waking up early every morning since we have arrived. After she crawled in to bed with me this morning I figured and try not to fidget as I normally do and take one for the team and stay put.

Mexico has been perfect. The weather is gorgeous and in the 80s. It's been really mellow down here. I don't feel like I am constantly being harassed to buy things and the employees at the condo we are staying at speak English perfectly and are really helpful. Our only drama so far is sam's birthday stingray sting. Fortunately it happened to Sonja about ten years ago in La Paz and some locals helped her out by bringing a boiling mixture
Of water and vinegar for her foot. It pulls the venom out apparently. Within five minutes sam stopped writhing in pain.

Sonja and I have been going on runs on the beach. It's beautiful (and exhausting). It's so fun to have this one constant thing you do and do it all over the world. It's a neat way to see a city. The Parisians looked at us like we were absolutely nuts when we were over there in September. We fit in much better here. :-)

The girls have been great. Maddie loves to go down to the beach and try to outrun the waves. She laughs the entire time. Allie wants nothing to do with getting anywhere near the ocean. We have spent a lot of time poolside as well but frankly I think I'm getting old
Because it feels cold! Allie fell in on the first day and immediately started trying to right herself. It's nice to see those swimming lessons paying off.

Tomorrow we may go zip-lining. We shall see. For now here's a few phone pics. Ilhopefully they attached! I can't make my phone scroll back up to edit this either. Oh well :-) and M is finally awake.

All 4 of 'em

On Sunday the Prentice's and Davis' came over for a belated March/February birthday dinner.  After trying on clothes, eating 1.5 bites of pizza, and tearing books out of a bookshelf (ALLIE!!) the girls wanted to watch Dora.  All four of them appear to have a bit of an oral fixation. All four of them refused to look at me.  They are very loyal Dora fans. Who knows, Swiper may be on the hunt just as they look away.

Picnic along the river

We missed out on a boat dinner this afternoon because the girls were taking naps.  Maddie was so sad and disappointed when she found out that I felt like we had to try and do something fun. So we surprised Kip at BEFA with a picnic dinner to go and enjoy along the Cedar River.  It was beautiful and warm and perfect.

Bad Baby

Allie, for the most part likes her sleep.  When you put her down at night she snuggles up with her blankie and falls asleep with no fuss.  Same with the naps.  Two times now I've yelled at Maddie to stop playing in her room only to find Maddie passed out in her bed and Allie out and about being a very bad baby. Today was one of those days...

So much fun

To watch these two play together.

Spring

It's supposed to rain tomorrow but we enjoyed our first glimmer of warmth today thoroughly.

Preschool Tuesdays

On Tuesdays Allie and I have four hours to ourselves kill while Maddie is in school.  Normall we get a bunch of errands done. (How did I ever think one was hard?) But this past Tuesday we were watching Bo (my dad's dog).  Allie was happy as long as Bo stayed out of her face...kind of hard for a puppy to do.

We decided to take Bo and Rudder to the dog park and met up with Luc (Sonja's dog, Bo's brother) and Sonja.  It was W-I-L-D.  Allie stayed perched on her rock high above the beasts.

After the rain came we headed back home.  Notice Allie perched safely on her bed away from dog kisses.

Crafts

I found this very cute little frame at target the other day and it immediately made me think of my most favorite picture of the girls (not taken by me of course).  It was in the clearance section for $5! So I snatched it up, tore off the backing, cut some construction paper to hide the hot air balloons, popped in the picture and taped it all back up. Voila. Instant cuteness!

Zombie Town

It's been a long week around the Davis Household.  We've had pink eye (Maddie and Allie), impetigo (Allie), double ear infections (Maddie and Allie), hives (Allie) and a lot of very long nights.  Allie is on a ten day dose of amoxicillan for a double ear infection.  She cried for hours last night and didn't go to bed until 3:30 or so, and then woke up at 7:00.  Maddie has antibiotic ear drops.  Now that she has tubes in her ears we can treat the infection directly.  Now that she has tubes in her ears they ooze pus all day.  Anyone want to come over for a play-date?

On a more positive note Allie loves to read Christmas books and find Santa.  It's pretty cute.  (Which guarantees we will have a crying Santa picture next Christmas I am sure)

Big Girl Bed

Miller Pollard in the UVillage recently went out of business.  I have been eyeing a twin sized bed there for a long time but at $1800 it was NOT happening on my budget.  However, I figured if it was meant to be it was meant to be so with only a few hours left of the sale I called the store and asked if the bed was still there.  It was and so off Kip went to go and pick it up.  Since then I've been itching to put Allie in it and having her trying to escape from her crib was all the excuse I needed.

My mom made the oh-so-cute and super trendy pom poms for us.  We love them.  Well, I don't know about Allie since she still speaks gibberish but I love them.  The chair and ottoman is from the Davis household.  The rug is from Salvation Army (it's pottery barn teen) for $30 and her dresser is from craigslist.

Last night was Allie's first night in her bed and she did great.  No problems with her trying to escape (yet that is. I am not totally disillusioned that she's going to stay put forever). And she took a nap there this afternoon for two hours with absolutely no fuss.
There's still a ton more to do (like repaint the walls since they've always sucked and I accidentally touched up with the wrong color blue) but for now we love it!

Home school?

Maddie and I were working on her letters yesterday.

It definitely answered the question (not that it was really being asked) of homeschooling. Not for me. Sorry Charlie.

She refuses to hold her pencil any other way.

And we watched this little guy.  If I ever start talking about getting a second dog let me just watch Luc again for a few hours.  Puppies are a lot of work.

Future architect/engineer (and in need of a nap)

A tad jealous?  Would not leave my side face. Maybe he was trying to avoid getting blamed for the pile of poop on the carpet. "Couldn't have been me! I was right with you the entire time..."

Happy weekend!

Hello, Good morning

First we get Allie out of her crib. I say we because Maddie NEVER sleeps in.  Two times now I have found Danger Dave with a leg slung out of the crib.  Might be time to go and get a twin-sized mattress.

Then we make our way downstairs for some "ce-ce" (cereal)
.
After breakfast we all take a shower together and get dressed.  My phone then takes a beating from either girl and many an app gets deleted while I am getting ready.

And then whatever personal bubble I had left after M and A is gone,  all by 7:00 AM.  How exciting!
