But once we (I) calmed down it turned out to be pretty fun. The kids all get along great and the bounce house does wonders for burning off steam.

We had the Saladino family over for a BBQ tonight. While we were waiting for them to arrive Maddie brought one of her chickens to the front yard so she could greet them with a lady in hand. Our neighbor Michelle came over to say hi. She also brought her dog Casey. We all watched in horror as Casey ate the chicken. Kip and I were both inside the house yelling and running, Michelle stood there like an idiot not grabbing the dog and the rest of our nieghborhood all came out to try and help but it was definitely too late. So, we are down another chicken. Let me tell you, I had no idea going into this how freaking traumatic this whole experience was going to be...

I woke up this morning thinking about that poor chicken. How horrible. And, how traumatic for all those who had to witness the carnage. I'm glad to see the remainder of the day was filled with kids having fun playing.
Katie says my "OH NO!" on reading this was 'overly dramatic'. Poor Maddie, she's getting an awful lot of life lessons from her ladies.
Laurie I had the huge intake of breath and oh no too. Glad to see that Mads snapped out of it fairly quickly. In the country the fox gets the chickens, city life the neighbor dog. I remember when Lisa, the german shephard up the street killed Bonnie my bunny....
and of course Otis was probably responsible for his share of dead chickens in Lake Stevens...which is most likely why Otis disappeared...
We do want more chickens sue! Although chickens probably don't want us.
Sad.
And in my defense, the way my mom gasped and said "oh no!" i literally thought one of our family members had died. THAT dramatic.
This is awful. So, so sorry. But looks like Mads rallied. Atta girl.
