All in a week

Maddie brought her chicks to show and tell. The stress of worrying about the chicks getting squished to death tripled when all three kindergarten classes came to see them.

Waiting for Maddie to get out of class

Bedtime stories. The girls are in a phase of "let's take a picture" (I'm not complaining)

Picking our salad for dinner

You can only guess how many giggles this induces.

And finally, Maddie's teacher came out yesterday to say that Maddie had taken the level H reading test, and passed with 98%. She is happy when her students are at level E at the end of the year. So bravo to Maddie!!

Goodnight

Singing and reading bedtime stories to the quietest of the chicks.

Probably should listen to the age recommendations

Maddie:
Am I a fork?
Am I chop sticks?

Because when you're guessing utensils fork naturally leads to chop sticks

Allie:
Continues to look at her picture and then "guess" and looks at others' pictures and say what's on them.

It all works out for good humor.

Two more hatched

I wish I could truly capture Maddie's joy when she sees the chicks. She cannot wait to show her class. Allie is pretty smitten as well.

Maddie offered to fill up a bowl of water for everyone and came into the garage with such enthusiasm that water was sloshing all over the place. I looked at her and asked, "so does this mean there's a trail of water from the kitchen to here?" She quickly responded with, "no. I filled it up in the bathroom so I think there's a trail from there"

Good news and bad news

So one of our chicks hatched. It is adorable. I am hoping some of the others survive. Speaking of survival, the bad news: stripey got attacked today and died. Allie asked if she would be dead forever (after inspecting her eviscerated body) or if she might come back. Sorry Allie but I think the only thing coming back are images of her chicken feet haunting me in my dreams.  I won't post a picture of that.

Going for a walk

I'm not sure who got more exercise- rudder chasing his ball, Maddie chasing rudder and the ball or Allie throwing her paper airplane. Either way everyone needed to get out of the house...at 7:45 AM both girls were already coming down with cabin fever.

Olympic Game Farm

I'm constantly trying to find fun things to do with the girls that involve something other than me playing with my phone and them the iPad. We aren't always successful, frankly they can be a lot to handle and they take whining to a whole new level (especially last night...dear lord I don't know what Allie was possessed with but it was NOT good).  So yesterday afternoon I thought about the idea of taking them to this drive-thru "zoo" that's out in Sequim.  I didn't dare tell them the plans because that would have guaranteed bad weather and a no-go complete with tears.  The weather came through and we loaded up the plane and went on our trip.  Many airports have "crew cars", beater old cars that you can borrow for a few hours. So we happily hopped in our 200,000 mile Aerostar and drove the rest of the way to the park.  The girls loved it.  And the animals were only too happy to take our wheat bread.
