Maybe we should just buy a camaro and get it over with

Apparently I can't drive. Either that or that curb on Mercer Island was put in the WRONG PLACE. Let's go with that. That's easier to swallow.

Also...my kid has a mullet. How did this happen? It was a cute bob. Now? Not so much.

So here we are, business in the front

Party in the rear

lis: Maddie are you ready to tell Santa what you want?
Maddie: Yup. I want a reindeer and a play-doh squisher
lis: Reindeer live with Santa maddie
Maddie: Just a small one?

Maddie has a small metal mailbox that she loves to deliver mail in. Today I received a package. I opened it and saw a tennis ball.
lis: Wow maddie! A ball? Thanks!
Maddie: And a penny mama!!

The Face of a Liar

On Saturday the Renton Landing had it's second annual tree lighting ceremony. Despite the temps being in the negatives (not really but it was take-your-breath-away cold) we went. After the festivities at the Landing we went to Costco to see Santa. Now, prior to this day I was pretty unsure about the crying factor- i.e., was Maddie going to cry again for Santa. Actually, I lie. I was quite sure she would cry. But then Saturday she was pumped. She was jazzed. She could not WAIT to see Santa and it's all we could talk about.
First stop was meeting Donner and Dasher who were a tad stinky but very cute.

Allie also liked the reindeer but maybe the fact that no one had yet called CPS on me for letting her foot get a massive blister/infection and doing nothing about it had her in the doldrums. Or maybe it was the negative temps.
(Nah, we'll go with the fact that it probably hurt like hell to walk- she seems pretty cozy in that suit)

Next stop? Oh yes, "train" rides. And a twenty minute line for this awesome little train (wreck)(kidding) ride.
(NO those are NOT rubber tires. I have no clue what you're talking about)

So, even though Kip looks like he might murder someone (he was happy...no infectious blister to blame for his lack of smile) I had to post this shot because Maddie, for once, is SMILING a genuine smile for the camera. She loves her trains. Even if they do have rubber tires.

So, like I said after the Landing we headed off to see Santa. We got to the store, got in line, got out of line to go and take a peek (still super excited), fixed our hair- Allie pulled out a pigtail and lost the tie so we had to do some improvisation. Since I wasn't going to be in the shot so I was willing to sacrifice my tie.

Yeah, not in the shot.

Right...
Now, mind you I have no problem with crying Santa pics but there wouldn't have been a Santa picture if I hadn't been there to actually physically hold her in it. When the time came this girl choked with a capital C. I was so happy walking towards Santa thinking to myself, "wow! No crying this year" when I caught out of the corner of my eye a little girl splayed out on the concrete floor in need of some Xanax. Which of course then set Allie off. The picture was doomed. But that's what makes it hilarious right?

Anyhow, like I said, the face of a liar: (a mere moments from our shot to ask the big guy for a play-doh squisher)

In-between Seasons

It has snowed in Seattle. Big time. Madeline cannot stop saying, "Mama, there's SNOW" "Mama, can I go outside and play?" She wants to spend all day and night outside.

Allie seems to agree with this idea but I have to tell you this picture is a total fake. She hates it. But only because her hand-me-downs are about six months off. Everything is either too big or too small. But...

We should be getting some of Hadley's cast-offs because there's now a BOY cousin!!

Carson Ryan Prentice was born on Monday 11.22.2010 to the first "arctic blast" of the season. He is adorable but already a little nervous about the three crazy girl cousins he had running around his room.

It's so easy to forget how TINY they are! He's such a little bean.

We can't wait to hold him again on Thanksgiving. Sounds like he gets to go home tomorrow. I am sure the Prentice Family will all enjoy getting home to their own beds.

Congrats guys, you make some cute babies!

A Project

Madeline Anne loves her Zaide Wednesdays. She really loves them when there's a project involved. (and fortunately for her there often is) This past Wednesday the girls made turkey gloves and pinecones complete with pom-poms, googly eyes and hot glue. Rudder also participated by eating anything and everything that dropped on the floor. (Now I am going to have eyes staring up at me as I clean up the yard...makes the poop scooping all the more exciting.) And Zaide, despite what you say, with all of this creativity you bring over I bet you totally fit in at Michael's. :-)

Upside-down eyes

102 temp
shivering and looking totally pathetic after eating frozen blueberries
napping now
hoping she's better by tomorrow

An Evening Stroll

It's been a rough week round these parts. Maddie had an ear infection that turned into another ruptured ear drum. (she had one last year too) I've been trying to get her an appointment at Children's Hospital ENT but it's a LOOONG process. First you have to get a referral from the pediatrician, then Children's has to process the referral which takes 24-48 hours. In our case we're on 48 hours +, and then it appears there can be up to a two month wait to get an appointment. We have her on antibiotics now but I'd like her to see a specialist to figure out why we're going from a somewhat typical ear infection to pus explosion.
Kip got sick and had to take Friday off of work thanks to a massive soar throat and high temp.
Yesterday I decided to take the girls and Rudder out of the house and go for a nice jog. It was so beautiful out and the rain is predicted to come soon. Maddie who refused to nap earlier in the day was eerily quiet after a short time-she was passed out. After the run I was even able to get her buckled into the car seat still asleep. That is until I accidentally got Rudder's tail in the door and he panicked and jumped from the cargo area onto her. Whoops.
Here's to a better next week!

A Record

Monday we had a record breaking 1.5" rain.
Wednesday we had record breaking temps- 74 degrees in Novemeber.
Thursday Kip took the girls out to play in the yard while I was at work AND took pictures. Truly a record worth noting.
