Madeline,
I love you so much. I love what a little girl you're becoming. You are such an old soul, wise beyond your years. I can't believe you're turning six. How have six years gone by in the blink of an eye?
I am so proud of you for all that you've learned this year. (Hello chapter books?!) You are slowly coming out of your shell, learning to stand up for what you believe in. Never lose this my love. Do what is right for you. Always.
You asked me what love meant the other night. And I asked you to answer first. You said that love is a feeling and that when you love somebody more than anything in the whole world, then that is love. Maddie, you are the epitome of love. I love you so much it makes my heart hurt. I love to watch you when you're unaware I'm doing it. When you brush your bangs out of your eyes, talk to the chickens, play school with Allie, when you're coloring-holding your pencil in the most uncomfortable way imaginable or after I wake up drenched in sweat because you've crawled into bed with me but you're dreaming peacefully next to me.
No matter where I am in your life, please remember that I will always be with you in your heart. "I carry your heart with me (I carry it with me always" (e.e. cummins)
Happy sixth birthday baby girl. I love you.
